Anglorand X-SA Paragliding World Record Attempt - December 2007

Rat Race Media is all about breaking the barriers and setting new records. By filming the world paragliding distance record attempt, Rat Race Media was part of another unique championship. Anglorand has provided the main sponsorship to allow this championship to take place in South Africa. The world's best pilots took a crack at the World Paragliding Distance Record, taking off from De Aar.

There were two teams involved in this championship. The South African Team : Pete Wallenda, Greg Hamerton, Nevil Hulett, Bernie Kelly and guest star Ewa Wisnierska (Germany). The Swiss Team : Alfredo Studer, André Bussman, Urs Nadler. Although good sportmanship ensured their co-operation on the ground, the rivalry between the nations in the air meant that this was a nail-biting competition as the pilots pushed the limits in the race for the new world record.

The official record stands at 423km set by Will Gadd in Texas, while the as-yet-unratified record stands at 462km, which is an incredible distance.

You can visit the SA official website www.x-sa.co.za to read more about this event. Or you can go to the official Swiss website www.x-sa.ch

We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors for their support and contributions.
