The Horse of the Year show started in the 1970's by the showing committee, at the time chaired by Vee Laros.
This very prestigious show started as a show to promote showing classes, providing a show to exhibit all different breed types and has grown into what is the largest showing show in South Africa as well as on the continent of Africa.
In 2008 Rat Race Media got on board and more than 3000 horses entered the Rat Race Media Horse of the Year show held at Kyalami Equestrian Park.
The main judges, Anna Levy, Richard Mills and Jacky Beatham were from the United Kingdom.
Rat Race Media are proud to announce that we bought the naming rights to the show for the next three years. Thank you to Mahindra and HP Packard that joined us this year to make the show even more prestigious and successful.
